About Us

Years ago, we designed a bed that converts empty space into sleeping areas for many. We have operated shared homes in California furnished with our beds for three years, and made international headlines for our innovative approach to low-cost housing.

 

When we began operating our company, Brownstone Shared Housing, in downtown San Francisco, we saw firsthand the destruction and devastation that large-scale unsheltered homelessness has on our community. We also saw the incredible amount of vacant office space downtown.

 

It was with this knowledge that we decided to create Brownstone X for the purpose of ending unsheltered homelessness, starting with San Francisco.
